What do you love most about being a fisherman?

Being my own boss and the people that I meet. It’s different every day and the people make it an amazing workplace.

What does sustainability mean to you?

It’s all about keeping the balance, not about getting more. In the 38 years I’ve fished, I’ve never been a part of overfishing. Having a sustainable resource is of utmost importance to me. It’s not about me, it’s about the resource. I firmly believe that.

What do you love about Alaska?

I love how Alaska is so diverse – the land, the people, the jobs, how we aren’t all the same. We are all so different and that exudes character. I am 100% positive that this is my home.

What do you want consumers to know about fishing in Alaska?

The quality of our seafood is a direct product of how we manage our state environmentally – it’s pristine here. It’s admirable that we can keep this resource as pure and healthy as we do, and we should all appreciate the amazing product that comes from Alaska to our plates.
