Jan Rumble

DIVE FISHERIES BIOLOGIST
"It can be grueling, especially the last dive of the day. But it’s extremely important for ADF&G to collect accurate information, and use that information to make good management decisions. "

As project leader for the Southeast Alaska region—essentially the entire state—Jan Rumble spends half the year 50 ft. underwater, diving up from five to ten times a day, one week on, one week off, observing the ocean floor. Rumble’s team conducts stock assessments for all three commercial dive fish species in Southeast Alaska: red sea urchins, sea cucumbers, and geoduck.
