Born and raised in the wilds of northern Idaho, Pat Shields spent his boyhood hunting and fishing, parlaying his love of the outdoors into a bachelor’s degree in wildlife management.Based in Soldotna on the Kenai Peninsula, Shields and his team oversee commercial fishing for the entire Upper Cook Inlet. “Our goal is to maximize sustainable yields and that means understanding everything we possibly can about the salmon we harvest.”
